Unite Private Networks FAQs
Unite Private Networks FAQs
Will the UPN legal entities still exist or are they being dissolved?
Unite Private Networks, LLC and Unite Private Networks of Illinois, LLC will still exist as legal entities with the dba Segra.
Why did you change the name of the company?
On July 6, 2023 Cox Communications completed the acquisition of commercial fiber provider Unite Private Networks (UPN). UPN was merged with Cox owned Segra, to form a new standalone fiber company to accelerate growth in our company’s commercial fiber solutions. We are now ready to fully transition the UPN brand to operate as Segra.
What will happen to the name Unite Private Networks?
The Unite Private Networks (UPN) name will officially transition to operate under the Segra brand name across the legacy UPN footprint on November 20th, 2024. Once complete, UPN will no longer transact business under the name UPN but will be doing business as Segra.
Are there any additional changes expected from this action?
No. As a nationwide fiber company, we are focused on delivering a superior communications experience, leveraging our next generation fiber network, and investing in our customers. We believe the name Segra, a Swedish verb: to overcome, to prevail and to win, is representative of our vision for the future; and this is the next step in our journey.
Will anything change in my services? Will I have the same account team?
Your services will not change as a result of the name change and your account team will continue to support you. In addition, our contact numbers and online portals remain the same for now, all of which can be accessed through www.segra.com.
You will continue to pay your bill or invoice as you do today, including any existing autopay or other arrangements.
As always, if we update our tools or processes to better serve our customers, we will communicate those changes to you in advance.
Do I need to do anything?
This name change doesn’t require anything from you. We know it will take some time to get used to calling us by our new name, Segra, so all we ask is to keep an eye out for us under our new name, in emails and at events.
Do I need an updated W-9?
Our legal entities, Unite Private Networks, LLC and Unite Private Networks Illinois, LLC, are still active companies and their Tax ID numbers are NOT changing. Therefore, you will not need an updated W-9, COI, new vendor information in any of our portals or updated banking information at this time. However, while not required, we do have a new W-9 that includes dba Segra. If you would like one, please email billing@segrafiber.com.
You may choose to make your payments out to Segra or UPN, but please continue to send payments using the same method and to the same location as you have been.
Since we have completed the legal and regulatory processes in states that require it, the legal entities will have the dba Segra added to it to allow UPN to brand itself Segra in the marketplace.
Are there any updated email addresses?
You will start to see emails coming from segrafiber.com. Please update your contacts accordingly. Our upnfiber.com email addresses are still active and will be redirected. Additionally, please update these group email addresses.
