Digital Voice

Segra Digital Voice provides customized IP-based solutions for the modern digital landscape. We offer various options to deliver dial tone and integrate with both TDM-based PBX systems and IP phone systems. This flexibility enables our customers to retain control and management of their hardware-enabled voice solutions. Segra presents three solution choices to cater to your business needs:

Analog

  • Provides an emulated analog line that can accommodate one single conversation (or application) simultaneously. Segra utilizes a native SIP handoff which is then converted to an analog signal via onsite provided electronics. This service requires constant electrical power for operation unlike a traditional POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) line. This product is suitable for voice and some fax communications, it is NOT recommended for use with modem banks, alarms, elevator or other life/health services.

SIP Trunking

  • This service enables the customer’s PBX to send and receive calls via a VoIP network connection. SIP Trunking utilizes a native SIP handoff (Session Initiation Protocol) to interface with the customer’s IP PBX.

PRI

  • Segra employs a native SIP handoff for this service, which is then transformed into a digital voice service through onsite electronics to connect with the customer’s PBX. The Primary Rate Interface (PRI) is implemented using Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) technology, allowing multiple voice channels to flow simultaneously between Segra’s voice gateway and the customer’s PBX.

POTS Alternatives

Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) is a traditional phone service that utilizes analog signals transmitted over copper lines. It has been a standard service offering for well over fifty years, however the technology is no longer an adequate solution, and due to that service providers are in the process of phasing out the product. That translates to a need for an innovative and reliable solution that assists Segra’s customers to transition to a modern digital Internet Protocol (IP) based service.
